Founded by DR T.L.Vasudevan, Senior most practicing ENT surgeon of Pondicherry. During 1988, when he joined the Government General Hospital as Assistant Surgeon,there was no facility in whole of Pondicherry even to do an Audiometry except in JIPMER. Hearing aids were purchased from Chennai,erstwhile Madras.
He subsequently, during 1990, arranged periodic visits by Prof Ashok Kumar, one of the senior audiologist from Madras Medical College from where Dr Vasudevan got trained as an ENT surgeon.
Dr Ashok Kumar used to do Audiological assesment,dispensed Hearing Aids to the deserving persons and also took over cases for speech therapy.
The facility got expanded to appoint audiologists and dispensed hearing aids which were of multi-brand.
Subsequently with the result of explosion of technology and availability of Digital and Programmable hearing aids, the centre was christened to be an exclusive SIEMENs centre. As the leading and pioneering center Decibel Audiology centre was designed and approved as the "Best Sound Centre' of SIEMENS.
